Let’s Talk About Sex and Relationships

From friendship to dating, love, and sex, this innovative one-of-a-kind virtual group is one of our most popular!

This program covers a variety of topics to promote healthy relationships and sexual expression for teens & young adults with developmental differences.

The curriculum was created by occupational therapists and will be run by our incredible occupational therapy assistant.

ALL THE DETAILS

  • The following is a list of topics we will cover during this group:
    • What is sexuality?
    • How do you express your sexuality?
    • How do you navigate relationships?
    • What’s the difference between a friend and a romantic partner?
    • How do you appropriately text someone when you’re in a relationship, or are interested in them?
    • What is safe sexual expression?
    • Consent and safety (including online safety)
    • And everything in-between.

  • This will be a 1-hour virtual weekly discussion-based group that will run for ten weeks. Every week will include some interactive teaching & activities, and there will always be a Q&A portion.

This group will take place over zoom.

  • 10 weeks

  • This group will run on Wednesday evenings from 5-6PM starting on April 17, 2024

  • There are no strict guidelines on who can or cannot be a part of the group. The group was designed for autistic individuals and those with developmental differences roughly between the ages of 16 and 30. However, if you have a different disability, or are outside of that age range and feel you’d benefit from a group like this - you are more than welcome to join.

This group will be discussion-based, so members must feel that they are able to engage in a mature and respectful conversation around sex & relationships.

  • You will leave the group having been introduced to a wide range of sexuality & relationships topics, and you’ll also have a booklet of materials and resources that you can refer to in the future.

  • Yes! Passport Funding covers this program. You can visit dsontario.ca for more information & to apply.

Please note that this video was recorded a few years back.

While Mira & Amanda no longer run this program themselves, they have trained the current Dream Weavers team - and all staff work under the same set of principles as they do.

Other notable changes from the time this video was filmed are that this program is now run virtually and each session is one-hour long.

In addition the next round of this program will be run by an occupational therapy assistant under the supervision of an OT. If you are wanting to have your insurance cover this program, you will need to ask them about this.

We are so excited to finally be running this program again!

There are only twelve spots available!
